Keyword grouping tool for Google Ads

Paste a list of keywords, one per line, and the tool groups them by the word that best sets each one apart, so every group can become an ad group with its own ad. Add a search volume after a tab or a comma to see the volume of each group. Everything runs in your browser.

Why group keywords into ad groups

In Google Ads, every keyword in an ad group shares the same ads. A group that mixes water heater repair and plumber jobs forces one ad to answer both, and answers neither well. Small groups built around one theme let each ad repeat what the searcher typed, which raises click-through rate and Quality Score.

How the tool groups keywords

  1. It lowercases each keyword, removes duplicates and filler words such as for or the, and treats singular and plural forms alike.
  2. It sets aside the words present in most of the list, such as plumber in a plumbing list: they describe the whole account, not one group.
  3. It assigns each keyword to its most widely shared remaining word, as long as at least the minimum number of keywords share it. The rest go to Ungrouped.

Treat the result as a first draft: merge or split groups where the meaning calls for it, then wrap the keywords in the right match types with the keyword wrapper.

Spot the negatives while you group

Grouping makes off-topic searches stand out: plumber jobs and plumbing apprenticeship come from job seekers, not customers. They belong in a negative keyword list, not in an ad group.

Frequently asked questions

How many keywords should an ad group have?

Enough to share one ad naturally: often between 5 and 20 closely related keywords. One keyword per ad group (SKAG) made sense before close variants; today it mostly adds work.

Does the tool use AI?

No. It groups by shared words with a simple, predictable method, so the same list always gives the same groups.

Can I paste keywords from Google Keyword Planner?

Yes. Copy the keyword and volume columns: the tool reads a volume after a tab or a comma and adds it up per group.

Is my list sent anywhere?

No. The grouping runs in your browser.
