Conversion rate calculator

Conversion rate is the share of visits or clicks that turn into a result: conversions ÷ clicks × 100. 45 sales from 1,500 clicks is a conversion rate of 3%. Fill in any two values below and the calculator gives you the third.

The fastest way to raise your conversion rate is to stop paying for clicks that never convert. PPCleaner blocks those Google Ads searches every night.

How to calculate conversion rate

Conversion rate = conversions ÷ clicks × 100

For ads, use clicks, or interactions as Google Ads calls them. For a website, use sessions or visitors. Turned around, the formula tells you how many clicks you need for a target number of sales, which is the first step of any budget.

Why irrelevant clicks drag it down

A click from someone looking for a job, a free version or a different product almost never converts. Those clicks sit in the denominator all the same. Remove them, and the same number of conversions on fewer clicks gives a higher rate and a lower cost per conversion. The CPA calculator shows the effect on cost.

How to improve it

  1. Block the searches that never buy with negative keywords.
  2. Send each ad to the page that answers it, not to the home page.
  3. Shorten the path: fewer form fields, a visible price, a clear next step.
  4. Check conversion tracking: a rate that drops overnight is often a broken tag, not a worse page.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good conversion rate?

It depends on what you count as a conversion and what you sell: a free trial converts more than a $2,000 purchase. Track your own rate over time and by campaign rather than chasing a universal figure.

Clicks or visitors: which one should I use?

For ad campaigns, clicks. For a website, sessions or unique visitors. Use the same one every time so the rate stays comparable.

Why is my Google Ads conversion rate above 100%?

Google Ads can count several conversions per click, for example two purchases or a purchase and a sign-up. Set the conversion action to count one conversion per click if you want a rate below 100%.
